6 Accessories Each DJ Should Have

1. Speakers-You'll need speakers, whether you choose party PA speakers or studio monitor speakers, a good compact Bluetooth/wired portable speaker that you can use anywhere, or even studio monitor speakers (whether or not they also function as home speakers). We like the speakers from Minirig, Soundboks, and KRK; these are all fantastic locations to start your search.

2. Headphones-Use headphones to "cue up" your music. Even while some DJs utilize in-ear monitors (IEMs), headphones are used by the great majority. Choose "closed back" headphones, a coiled cable, and either "on ear" or "over ear" style. Consider Sennheiser HD-25s or AIAIAI TMA2s as suitable examples of both types to start with.

3. Cables: Your DJ controller or system definitely includes some cables, but perhaps not all of them. It's likely that audio cables will be an essential buy. Just take a look at the inputs and outputs, then purchase cables that match. Durable items will, of course, last longer, and DJ TechTools' products are good values (we use them).

4. Microphone If you ever need to speak, you'll need a microphone. Look for a "dynamic microphone" because this portable model is the best at reducing feedback and interference. The Shure SM58 is a classic, although many high-quality clones are available for far less money.

5. Laptop Stand: A stand will raise your laptop to a more comfortable viewing height for laptop DJs, preventing you from stooping to read it. Choose a "U" stand that folds flat; they may frequently be arranged in a "Z" arrangement. Popular brands include Crane, UDG Gear, Magma, and Reloop.

6. Cover & Cases: Guard your equipment! For cases, UDG Gear and Magma have decent selections with helpful finders on their websites to match cases to gear for a snug fit. We really prefer Decksaver acrylic covers for preserving sensitive knobs and buttons.

There are many additional items that DJs wind up purchasing along the way, like audio interfaces, small mixers, and livestreaming cameras, but we consider the aforementioned items to be pretty much necessary. Ask any questions you may have; we are pleased to offer the resources that we and our students utilize. Use our evaluations and roundups to explore what's best for you.
